iPad Mini 2 to come in gold and space gray, claim latest leaks

The next Mini will also sport the Touch ID found on the iPhone 5S, according to alleged images of the tablet.

Two new images suggest that Apple might release a gold iPad mini 2 with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

When purported images of a space gray iPad 5 leaked earlier this week, I wondered if we might see a gold tablet next. After all, we’ve already seen silver and space gray models, which are two of the three colors for the iPhone 5s. Now, just a few days later, images of a gold tablet have surfaced on Chinese tech site DoNews, though this time we are allegedly looking at a gold iPad mini 2.

Compared to previous leaks, these images seem pretty consistent with what we’ve seen so far. And a quick glance at the home button on the tablet reveals a design similar to Apple’s new Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the iPhone 5s.

Sonny Dickson, a solid source for Apple leaks, earlier today tweeted, “Touch ID is coming to the iPad Mini 2.” He also pointed to an A7 chip with 64-bit architecture and an M7 motion processor like the new iPhone 5s.

The iPad mini 2 is also expected to feature a retina display and see a release before the end of the year.
