Official Windows Phone Central app hits version 4.4 Posted: 21 Nov 2013 11:54 PM PST It's been fairly quiet in terms of updates to our own official app for Windows Phone in the last couple of months, other things tend to get in the way especially when the big focus is something for bigger screens. That said we have some good news today in that version 4.4 of our app has just gone live and is available for you to download to your Windows Phone 7 or 8 device right now from the marketplace. You'll likely only notice a few of the changes straight away so as usual you can read all about them after the break, as well as an important announcement about our Windows Phone 7 support from here on in. |
Screenshots of official Mint.com app for Windows Phone revealed Posted: 21 Nov 2013 10:54 PM PST In what is probably the biggest non-secret of the night, Mint.com has officially launched…their public beta for Windows Phone. Sure it's not the app-app for the public to go use and manage their finances with, but it's a sure sign that it's coming soon. And even though people are required to sign an NDA to enter the beta, some of you folks are so darn excited you're sending in screenshots. Truth be told, there's not a whole lot to the app. In the images below you can sections for your accounts, budgets, transactions, location info and even push notifications. There's even a swanky pass-code lock to keep people from prying into your biz, should you leave your phone unattended. |
WhatsApp gets a very specific update tonight Posted: 21 Nov 2013 10:30 PM PST It's Friday, and it looks like the hardworking folks at WhatsApp are busy churning out more updates. I mean, why do in one update what you can do in five? Tonight, the popular messenger app has been bumped to version 2.11.312.0 and yes, it does come with a changelog. That's the second update this week. Unfortunately, no new features are available but if you speak Arabic or Hebrew, start high-fiving your friends, because you just got a "fix for difficulties entering your verification code". Bam! How awesome is that? |
Nokia Lumia 1520 shipments delayed from Microsoft and AT&T, say it ain’t so! Posted: 21 Nov 2013 07:55 PM PST We are just a few hours away from the launch of the Nokia Lumia 1520 Windows Phone over at AT&T and some are receiving emails from AT&T and the Microsoft Store they would rather not read. Citing overwhelming demand both AT&T and Microsoft's online store dispatched emails and text messages to customers alerting them that their Nokia Lumia 1520 would not be arriving as first planned. |
Mint begins beta testing their app for Windows Phone Posted: 21 Nov 2013 05:45 PM PST If you're one of the hundreds (if not thousands) of people out there who signed up for the Mint.com beta test for Windows Phone, you should check your email. Invites just went out and looking at the sheer number of 'tips' we received, a lot of you are anxious to get started. Of course, the email sent merely states that they will add you when they have room, and that's only after you agreed to a lengthy NDA (non-disclosure agreement). Or so we're told, we would never break an NDA with Mint.com, which we've heard is some sort of financial service. |

The device is responsible for massively increasing the number of Windows Phone devices out there roaming the streets. We've seen rumors of its successor, the Lumia 525, coming soon, but the Lumia 520 is still an excellent smartphone for a number of users. Want one? Xbox One's internal design may prove for more stability and a longer lifespan compared to Sony’s PS4 Posted: 21 Nov 2013 10:31 AM PST Comparing the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One side by side makes Microsoft's unit look a bit… chunky. But Microsoft has its reasoning for making its next generation system the size of a large concrete brick – ventilation. While Sony has decided to go for the sleek racing car style approach, Microsoft has longevity and stability on their list. |

The litigation has been filed in the U.S. District Court in New York, but is currently under a seal. There are not a lot of details available, but this follows a number of patent infringement lawsuits brought by Acacia subsidiaries against Microsoft in October in Texas, Delaware and Illinois. |

Haven't pre-ordered your Xbox One? Fear not as Tesco UK is selling stock at midnight Posted: 21 Nov 2013 07:20 AM PST The Xbox One launch is going to be massive. Stores are struggling to keep up with pre-orders (I've personally had my own order put in "queue three" with my local GAME store), but fear not if you've yet to pre-order the console. UK supermarket chain, Tesco has some stock put to the side at its Extra stores that will go on a first come first serve basis. |
Require a Doctor's Note to pull a sickie for tomorrow? Xbox One has you covered Posted: 21 Nov 2013 06:30 AM PST Tomorrow's the big day (unless you reside in New Zealand and Australia). The Xbox One will be launching in multiple markets on November 22nd and it's not farfetched to assume everyone's real excited to get their hands on the next-gen console. The only issue is that the launch day is a Friday, but what if you could have a Xbox One Doctor's Note to pull a sickie and get out of whatever is planned for you? |
Ninja Jump, an upwardly mobile Windows Phone game Posted: 21 Nov 2013 05:23 AM PST Ninja Jump is a simple, mildly challenging Windows Phone game that has you running up walls, dodging enemy ninjas and other dangers. Consider it an infinity running game that has you running up the walls instead of across the landscape. The higher you climb, the higher your score. Graphics are nice (although tiny), game pace quick and overall Ninja Jump is not a bad choice if you are looking for a casual game to help you pass the time with. |
