Volkswagen's quarterly net profit fell to 1.86 billion euros ($2.57 billion) from EUR11.27 billion, in the year-ago period.

Its revenue declined 3.7% to EUR47 billion.

Honda Motor Co (NYSE: HMC) reported a 46% gain in its fiscal second-quarter net profit.

Honda's quarterly net profit surged to Y120.37 billion ($1.23 billion), from Y82.23 billion, in the year-ago quarter. However, analysts were expecting a profit of Y142.90 billion.
