The Three Vampires

The Three Vampires is a family oriented app for our Windows Phone that is one of the many such apps from Windows Phone Parent.

While Windows Phone Parent's main goal is dedicated to reviewing and promoting family friendly apps and games for Windows Phone, they do crank out a few titles along the way.

The Three Vampires is a Halloween story book for your Windows Phone inspired by the classic children's story Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It may not be everyone's bottle of pop but if you have small kids, The Three Vampires may be that kid friendly Windows Phone app that helps them pass the time.

Nokia Camera coming to all Lumias with ‘Black’ firmware; new update next week to fix reframing

Posted: 25 Oct 2013 11:07 AM PDT

This week in Abu Dhabi, Nokia released their Nokia Camera app, which finally combined their Pro Cam and Smart Cam apps into one, while adding a few new features too. Those new abilities include quick-access for Modes, instead of the full-range of manual controls, and performance improvements. The move was done in response to customer feedback and it really shows how Nokia wants to get their experience right.

There is still one nagging problem though: those with Lumias that are not the 92x or higher are excluded from downloading Nokia Camera. That will change though when 'Lumia Black', the upcoming firmware for all Lumias, arrives in the coming weeks and months.

New engaging Xbox One ad invites you to try Microsoft’s all-in-one gaming system

Posted: 25 Oct 2013 08:47 AM PDT

Ads and commercials can be hit and miss with Microsoft. But we will say that within the last 18 months, they have had more wins than losses (see the Lumia 1020 recital or Surface 2 ones for evidence). Today, Redmond has pushed out a new teaser ad for the Xbox One and they seem to have hit all the right notes.

The commercial is titled 'Xbox One: Invitation' and features some real life celebrities in their elements, welcoming users into the action.  The ad starts with Titanfall in a board room (reminiscent of the ED-209 scene from Robocop) and it goes on to highlight FIFA 14, Forza 5 and Dead Rising 3 (which is especially hilarious).

And that's the important message here: gaming.

Posted: 25 Oct 2013 08:15 AM PDT

We're at home rocking our Surface 2 (that's the RT version in case you forgot) and while we're super pleased with it, you 'Pro' fans out there have something to get excited about too: the Docking Station.

A few of the next-gen Surface accessories, like the Docking Station and Battery Cover, did not launch with the Surface 2, leaving a few of us a little flummoxed. However, after a few tips we received and some details posted on ZDNet by Mary Jo Foley (and Windows SuperSite), we can let you know that the Docking Station is now available—in limited quantities.

AT&T removed Qi wireless charging in the Lumia 1520 to make room for PMA

Posted: 25 Oct 2013 05:58 AM PDT

We recently reported on AT&T's launch page for the Nokia Lumia 1520 and how built-in wireless charging was absent. We noted how this decision would have not been to save cost or a few milometers on the device, but possibly affected by AT&T's involvement with Qi rival PMA (Power Matters Alliance). The company appears to have opted for wireless charging shells instead.

Viewr for Flickr, photo sharing for Windows Phone 8

Posted: 25 Oct 2013 05:56 AM PDT

Viewr for Flickr

If the official Flickr Windows Phone app isn't doing much for you, take a gander at Viewr for Flickr.

Viewr for Flickr is a Windows Phone 8 photography app that is straight forward means to accessing Flickr while on the go.  The app has a clean layout where you can view and share Flickr images as well as upload images to your account.

There is some room for improvement but from uploading to viewing to sharing, Viewr for Flickr lays everything out nicely and is well worth trying.
