Music lovers in India have another reason to celebrate this festive season. Hungama, one of the biggest digital music services in India, has finally launched their Windows Phone app this week. Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Pvt Ltd. is the largest aggregator, developer, publisher, and distributor of Bollywood and South-Asian entertainment content in the world.

The beautifully designed app is definitely a one-stop jukebox for free music streaming. Along with songs and music videos, the app provides trivia, lyrics, and info for all the latest songs. UK mobile phone retailer Phones 4u has announced a Christmas giveaway where customers could win a gift from a pool worth £1 million. To celebrate the festive season, Phones 4u will be embarking on its largest giveaway for pay as you go (PAYG) smartphone purchases during November and December. 

The official Flickr app for Windows Phone is slacking off. It hasn't been updated since 2012 in March. We recently reported that Windows Phone is the world's fastest growing smartphone operating system with a 275% percent growth rate, but that might not be Microsoft's only reason to smile. According to NetMarketShare, Windows 8 now owns 9.25% of the desktop market. Breaking that number down even further, we find that 1.72% of all market share belongs to Windows 8.1, while the other 7.53% belongs to the vanilla version, Windows 8.

Although Windows Phone 8 is nearly one year old, the promise of numerous VOIP apps is still not quite a reality. Yesterday though, Nimbuzz, an old school messaging service, finally delivered on free voice calls for their Windows Phone app.

Version 1.1.4.0 is now live in the Store for Windows Phone 8 devices. Free voice calls (with your Nimbuzz contacts) and bug fixes are the two features on order.

Data from Strategy Analytics suggests sales of Windows Phone units were up over 275% year-over-year for the third quarter. 

Windows Phone has been in third place for mobile operating systems for quite some time. The latest developments around BlackBerry only widen the lead for Windows Phone, while cementing its spot in third. Nokia's Fred Patton has taken to the Developer blog to announce the Create competition winners. Developers are tasked to create apps for Windows Phone and Nokia Lumia. The previous contest, Nokia Future Capture, was centred on imaging and the Lumia 1020. This contest however, has multiple categories, opening up the flood gates for different types of apps.

Huawei have made the Ascend W2 UMTS version official - giving consumers in the smartphone market yet another option when deciding on which smartphone to purchase. According to the below press release the device should be available now in China (but has already been listed at retailers) - with roll outs later this month to Russia and the Netherlands, and further markets to follow in due course. 

Nokia has unveiled the Lumia 1520 in Vietnam, announcing pre-orders from November 8th. The price is said to be $15,999,000 VND ($800), according to WinPhoneViet. The device was unveiled in Saigon yesterday, just weeks after the product was shown off in Abu Dhabi. If you're waiting to get your hands on the new smartphone, the wait is almost over.

Windows Phone Central App and Game Roundup: Are you ready for some Football?

This time of year many will find themselves pre-occupied with the American pastime football. Be it fixated on Saturday with College Football or glued to the screen on Sunday with the NFL, we love our football.

The sport now transcends the weekend with games during the week as well as on the weekends.  For the times we can't be anchored to the couch, taking in all the games, our Windows Phones are a great way to stay in touch with the sport.  This week's Windows Phone Central Roundup focuses on those gridiron apps.  Apps that focus on delivering all the news, scores, stats and standings from the football field.  We also throw in a few football games for good measure just in case you need something to help you pass the time with during those extended t.v. time-outs.
